Hi Joslin -

I have a response from the insurance carrier, however, to obtain an accurate quote we need additional information so that we can submit an application to them for rating.  Such things as the vehicle, use of the vehicle, requested coverages, and driving records of the individuals involved all effect the premium.  The best they could tell me would be that scenario #1 would be $1600 or so and scenario #2 might be slightly lower.  They advised that they haven't seen these types of policies in a while and the rates could have canged.  Typically the vehicle's worth, driver history and it's use play the biggest factors on the premium.

Hope this is helpful but if you have more information such as the year, make and model of the vehicle along with where it would be parked, what coverages you would want on the vehicle as well as a list of the drivers, including their dates of birth and license numbers, driving history, we would be able to submit an appliation for a more accurate quote.

Hi Michelle.  Our team meets this Monday at 5.  Do you think you could provide us answers to the questions below before then?

Thanks. We had our meeting last night and we have narrowed our insurance question/needs and we have two different coverage situations we are looking at.

First.  One person owns the pick up truck, individually, and allows 6 named and known people to use it.  We would have the names of the six people.  These people would pay the owner of the truck a small fee to use the truck.  Like $10 each time.

Second scenario.  A corporation owns the pick up truck and others can use it.  It would be, I think, like a general commercial policy.  In this situation, we could indentify the people who would use it and keep the use limited to those people.  Or we could have it opened ended to anyone could use the truck.  So under this scenario, it would be nice to know the amount in the open ended situation and the amount for the known and limited situation.

Yes, but that is a very rough estimate.  For a more accurate quote we would need additional information and to submit an application to the company for review/quote.

Hi Joslyn -

I did leave you a voice mail regarding this also.

I heard back from our underwriter who says that they may have a specialty market for this type of coverage.  Without much information to go on he's guessing that the premium would be over $1200.00.  I have an application that we can fill out and submit to them for a more accurate quote.  I do need some additional information to submit the application for quote.

Named insured/dba?  Is this a partnership, corporation, individual or other?
Who is the vehicle registered to?
Address & Phone number plus contact name
Description of operations
Year, make and model?
Is it allowed for vehicle to be taken overnight?
Just liability coverage or comprehensive & collision coverage also?
Is this business at all affiliated with the one in Burlington?
Where will the vehicle be kept when not in use?

If we can get some of this information together I can forward everything to the underwriter for a more accurate quote.

Thanks Joslin - have a great afternoon!!

Hi Michelle.  A few weeks ago we talked about getting insurance for the Montpelier pick-up truck share program.  You said you were going to look into that. I have a meeting next week with the team and I need to update them.  Any luck?
