Things happening with the MET and its and teams.

Coordinator/Steering Committee: Several discussions and matters on the table; Barry in midst of preparation of "boilerplate" for upcoming grant applications to support general MET operations.  I'd be happy to share what I've got and get feedback; it's not on this site yet, but I'd do it on first request.

Weatherization: In the course of its first 2-3 meetings, the  team focused on the "Weatherization DIY Kits" project proposal.  Kate led the team through further defining the project, getting it to the point at which Barry was able on February 15 to submit it as a proposal to be granted funding via the NEGEF's "Small Grant" program.  We expexct to hear back some time in April.

Transportation: The team initially focused on the "Cooperative Pickup Truck" project proposal.  Through team member Joslyn Wilschek's early work, this moved into tangential territory: entering into discussion with Car-Share Vermont over CSV's expanding into Montpelier.

Energy-use Assessment: the team has gotten a good start on data measuring Montpelier's transition from fossil-fuel to alternative energy; it's assembled total #s of:
- BPI-certified weatherizations
- low-income weatherizations
- net-metered CPGs (Certificates of Public Good--these indicate installation of Wind, Solar PV, Methane, Fuel Cell, or Hydro).

PACE (Clean Energy Assessment Districts) -- Has:
- Made a first-pass decision to go for, in the November 2010 election, CEAD-creation only, delaying voter approval of the bond until a 2011 election.
- Identified Several areas of preparation identified in anticipation of this:

  • development of a set of CEAD team “common talking points" (first draft complete, here)
  • consultation with/use of resources from other towns further along than we are.
  • begin building a list of homeowners’ likely to do energy projects under CEAD, and estimated cost (preparation to determine size of bond for which Montpelier applies).

Communal Use -- looking into constructing a miniature cross-section model of a weatherized house to be quickly erected in public spaces and/or at public events, or setting up a Cellulose drop-off/pickup depot.
