Just sharing this with you as an interesting approach before I forget all about it. Northwoods Stewardship Center is demonstrating just what a Home Energy Audit actually is (and charging 5 bucks!). I thought this a great idea (perhaps without a fee?) for people to find out all that's involved in a more direct fashion. The fear of the unknown can be paralyzing...

Home Energy Audit Demonstration
Sunday, April 11th, 12pm, Cost $5
With modern day testing procedures and equipment, including a blower door, we will perform an energy audit on the Stewardship Center’s building. See the tools and methods used to determine what measures may be taken to improve comfort, indoor air quality and reduce the energy consumed in a building. The workshop will be led by Haze Smith of Northern Home Performance, an Energy Star Contractor working in the Northeast Kingdom and northern NH. Learn about typical energy savings and payback period of these measures, as well as costs and cash incentives available. Please pre-register at 802-723-6551 x115.

Jumping ahead quite a bit...I could probably convince Elliott Curtin (WARMVT.com), the guy whose crew I've been on, to work with us here in Montpelier if we went forward on such a thing.
