Same question for the Button-Up workshop: for trainers or participating homeowners?
Button-Up workshop would be for homeowners, as a first step in getting them on board with the DIY process. And a place where we could solicit people to be "guinea pigs" for the pilot.
Yes- the idea was we would recruit volunteers who would be willing to distribute the kits and serve as advisors to the homeowners. Some of those volunteers would likely come from the current members of the homes/weatherization committee, but it's not necessarily the same group. I'd say we'd hope to get 6-8 volunteers trained through the Weatherization Skillshop programs.
Good; I'd inferred some of that but glad to get the detail. Between the descriptive narrative in the app, and these thought-through details, there is good fodder for a scope statement and statement of work, which as you know I'm asking to be S.O.P. on projects. We've done a bit of cart before the horse here but no biggie.

said Budget Q&A
Kate, give me an estimate of what the DIY-Kit participant would pay for the kit (needed for the "income" portion of the project's budget: "Itemize anticipated expenses and income for this Project Proposal. Also note in-kind services (donated materials and/or labor) you may receive for this proposal.")
The contents of the DIY kit would vary according to the scope of their project.
We were hoping at minimum they would include a packet of resources, a Button Up DVD, safety goggles and gloves- everyone would get that.
Then we were thinking there might be something like a restaurant menu of items which the homeowner could choose from depending on their project- all at wholesale or discounted prices. These might include:
- caulk
- weatherstripping
- cans of foam
- window plastic
- outlet gaskets
- pipe insulation
- duct mastic
I'm taking a wild guess but I'd say the average kit might be $80-100, depending.
Also we talked about having some tools which would be lent out with the kits- things like caulk gun, foam gun, utility knife, etc. but would be returned to MET.

Thank you, Kate, I used that estimate and other bits.

Kate, who will be doing the "Participate in Weatherization Skillshop" -- MET Weatherization team members, i.e.those who will later train the homeowners? (hit the 'Reply' link in this bubble)
